Heavy duty Bentgo box for teens and adults
I decided to spend the extra money this school year and get these for my high school boys who need to bring a lot of food to school because they have after school practices. This is a significant upgrade to what we were using before in that these hold much more food securely. They are heavy and large, which is something to consider when buying these. I included photos of a common type/size of lunch bag the kids use today so you can see that these do fit in here and the lid closes. You cannot fit a drink in the main bag part with the Bentgo box, however, this type of bag has a bottom part that zips open and can hold a drink along with a zip front pouch and back mesh pocket for snacks etc. So this will work for us. Just make sure you measure your lunch bag/box if you have to carry this size Modern Bentgo. Inside the box you have a large compartment on the left that has a removable divider so you can use the entire space if you need to. The right side does not have a removable divider. The box easily snaps shut and feels extremely durable, like it will last for many years. Overall, for the hefty price, I believe if you are looking for something that will last, need to pack a big lunch for teen boys/others, and need to eliminate the headache of using other containers that leak or are cheap plastic, this is a great investment! The company has an amazing hassle free warranty, exchange, and customer service program with an email and phone contact for support along with a one year extended warranty on this product. It is also very gift-able, in that it comes in a nice sturdy box with a handle on it. 6/25/2024 review update: I had to use the customer service support via email on the company website and can report that they do stand behind the product. I received a free replacement due to the hinges breaking on the box. The hinges will definitely break on these if you open them and put stress on it. I was washing them by hand and laying them open upside down to dry. This was putting too much tension on the hinges and it did not take too much for them to break. Unfortunately, the plastic hinges once broken cannot be repaired, rendering the lid and box useless. So my advice for washing is to hand wash and air dry with lid open but not upside down. Make sure anyone using a box knows not to put stress on the hinges of the lid. Once it breaks, you cannot repair it yourself as the hinges are plastic. A redesign of the lid which makes the hinges more durable or even replaceable somehow would make this product much more appealing given the product is pretty costly. You want the product to last. Given that the company is replacing them if they break, I still can recommend them. It was really fast how the company responded and I had my replacement within a week.

Very nice and lightweight
This is a great Bento Box–the only thing missing is the cooling tray that comes with other models. Hugs plus for this model’s it weighs a lot less and is very good quality!We like the adjustable compartments and it’s easy to clean. It fits easily into a backpack and keeps your food nice–why not get it? 🙂

Waste of money
Update: customer support went above and beyond, reached out and sent a replacement.Didn’t make it 10 uses and the latch broke. Don’t waste your money.

Wonderful size for big kids
Final review: the same thing happened with our second box and we’re just going to get a second box of a different brand we already own. The other box has an hinge that opens a little more than 180° and is really helpful for drying on the rack, packing, eating and cleaning. It’s just not as delicate.Update 2: Despite buying this on Amazon, I reached out to the Bentgo customer support via email. They were quick to respond and send out a replacement box once I sent in the requested documentation of damage. I had my box on my doorstep 36 hours later. I’m incredibly impressed.Update to my initial review- I always hand wash these boxes, this one is used by my 1st grader so it’s not roughed up. It’s always packed inside of an insulated lunchbox and is never forced closed. And it’s one of a few she has so it’s not used even 5 days a week. Maybe 2 at the most as it’s not her preferred box. And after less than 4 months the back hinge just cracked right off. Didn’t even make a sound, just popped off so easily that I thought I would be able to reattach. But nope, broken. Very very disappointed.I purchased a few bentgo boxes last year for my kids’ lunches and they were wonderful. But as they grew the boxes weren’t large enough for the amount of food they wanted to take. So I snapped this up this year and it not only looks nice and sleek, and the handle is so pretty against the green color of the box, but it holds so much. I’m able to pack my 1st grader a proper lunch and not cram it in. We still pack a few snacks outside but it holds the bulk now. I also like that the adjustable divider has two options or can be fully removed for one large main space. Our silicone dividers we purchased separately fit nice in the other spaces and it seals perfectly.

It is quite difficult to wash when it is oily.
