    Nicely Made
Pulse Oximeters measure the percentage of blood hemoglobin that is carrying oxygen. These digital devices shine red light and infrared light beams onto one side of your finger and measure the amount of light transmitted through to the other side; the difference (light in vs out) is the amount of light absorbed by the hemoglobin (both with and without O2) and this absorption can be converted into a SpO2 measurement. Normal SpO2 levels for healthy adults are 95%-98%, and this is the range where Pulse Oximeter measurements are most accurate. ThermBio claims a measurement accuracy of +/-2% over the SpO2 range of 70%-99%, which is good for consumer-grade equipment. I tested this ThermBio unit and compared the readings to another Pulse Ox device we have at home with +/-2% accuracy. As you can see in the photo, I got a reading of 98% (+/-2%) and a pulse rate of 60 bpm on the ThermBio unit; this agreed well with my comparison device, which measured 97% @ 63bpm. The appearance and build quality of this ThermBio device is very good, with smooth, soft edges and just enough hinge pressure to be snug without being uncomfortable. I like that the kit includes the needed AAA batteries as well as a case and a lanyard. Operation is very straightforward – press the power button, insert a finger, and hold still for a few seconds until a reading is displayed. A few seconds after you remove your finger, the device will auto-shutoff.

    Works, but may be overpriced.
This is a tough item to review. We picked up a pulse oximeter in late 2021. Back then there were not many choices, and you got what was available. We’ve been happy with the one we got, but it is always good to get a second opinion. We recently picked up a ThermoBio IR thermometer and were happy with it, so when we saw this it seemed worth getting. I have only ever used these two pulse oximeters, so I don’t have a lot of experience to compare against. The readings with this item are comparable to our older unit, though it takes a bit longer to get a good reading. The display is simple and easy to read. It provides the needed info with large and clear text. Our older unit has smaller text, but more detail, including a history graph. This pulse oximeter does also include a fairly nice carry case, would could be useful if you need to transport it around. The most important thing is that it does its job and is easy to use. However, these days there are a lot of options, and this one is more expensive than many others. When we got this on Vine it was listed as $50, which I can now say is way too much. As I write this review the price has dropped to $25, which is more reasonable. Prices have changed a lot in the last 4 years, but this is slightly more than we paid for our older unit. The older model we have is not available anymore, but there is a new version of it which is about $10 more than this item. I looked at others to get an idea of prices, and I see many options at around half the, current, price of this one, including some offering the history graph. I don’t think the carry case is worth $10+. I don’t know the quality of others, so maybe this one has a better sensor to justify the cost. The only one I can compare against is now more expensive, but also performed better in my testing. Based on what I have to work with, I have a hard time recommending this pulse oximeter at the current price, and would strongly recommend against it if it were to go back up to the price I first saw it listed at. I think that for most there are probably better choices. Based on this I’d put this at 3.5 stars, if that were an option. Since it does the job, and some may find the carry pouch or screen to be worth the premium, I’m going to go with 4 stars.

    A great quality Pulse Oximeter
This is great to have on hand no matter your health situation. This is a real high quality blood oxygen meter. It comes with a lanyard, BRAND NAME batteries, and a carrying case. The meter is comfortable to use, as the parts that your finger touch is made of silicone. The numbers are large and easy to read and the unit turns on at the touch of a button and off about 10 seconds after you remove your finger. The lanyard, while handy, is very difficult to thread through the hole. I did manage to get it through after some time. Also, the user guide is printed very small and hard to read. You’ll need a magnifying glass or the zoom on your phone camera in order to read it. Fortunately the “Quick Start Guide” gave me what I needed to know to get started. For $20, this is a fantastic deal!
