The Pro feels much better than the regular Talon
This pro version is pretty obvious that it is made from higher quality materials. I really like that it’s one size versus the non pro Talon which requires you to choose S/M or L/XL. It’s not easy knowing what size you are without being able to try the pack on. The size chart has 19 & 20 inch torso fitting both sizes, which makes it not so easy to choose the right pack. The Pro is also 2L smaller than the equivalent non Pro Talon but I’m not sure I’ll really notice the difference.

Talon Pro 20L
This is a great hiking pack, and I also use it as a day pack for shorter campouts. It is very good quality, but the only thing I wish was different is that it should be more easily compatible with other water bladders other than only Osprey’s Reservoirs.

$40 more than the Talon 22….for what?
Considered all on its own, the Talon Pro 20 is a good, very burly hiking/mountaineering day pack with a comfortable suspension, nice light weight, and decent organization. The fabric in particular seems extremely tough. The Mars Orange color is weird and is really two shades, a dull reddish brown and a screaming bright orange-red; the gray colorway is better.So why 3 stars? Because Osprey’s own non-Pro Talon 22 is all of the above, for $160 (full retail, and you can usually find it for $140) instead of $200. Unless you’re dragging the thing up rock faces on the regular or doing serious bushwhacking, there just aren’t any features here that justify the $200 price besides the fabric. If you’re looking for a lighter, faster Talon, the Talon Velocity is still $20 cheaper and has a running vest-style harness. And the standard Talon 22 is a classic for a reason. I just don’t really get who this is for.
