How did we get our start?
Brothers Ryan and Shane Mcgrotty started REP in Longmont, Colorado, in a 1,200-square-foot retail storefront with a two-car garage. They filled it with a few pieces of equipment and stacked bumper plates to the ceiling in the closet. Their shop wasn’t a big, flashy space, but even in the humble garage, the brothers’ goal was to see people’s eyes light up when they walked into the space. They wanted to bring back the art of customer experience. They also wanted to sell high-quality gear they would (and did) buy, use, and love themselves.
REP Gives Back: Police, Fire & Military
Our respect for those who provide our freedom and security is what drove our desire to give back. In 2023, we chose to pledge $100,000 to three great charities that help military and first responder’s families. In this way we can ensure the money we give goes to those with the greatest need, and continues our tradition of honoring those who serve our nation and our community. Warning on bottom of bag (see photo)
This was my first time trying protein powder. It has a noticeably synthetic taste, but I assumed that’s just how protein powders are (I later tried another brand in strawberry flavor and it tasted even worse).I initially mixed it with milk, but it only blended well in a blender, not by hand. I also tried adding it to instant oatmeal (before adding water), which improved the flavor slightly, though the same unpleasant taste was still there.I decided to try other brands in hopes of finding one with a better taste, but I didn’t want this one to go to waste, so I kept using it. Now that I’ve nearly finished the bag, I noticed something concerning: when I went to shake out the remaining powder, I saw a warning printed on the bottom of the package (see photo).Setting aside the ethics of selling a product meant for health and fitness that carries such risks, the placement of this warning is unacceptable. It’s hidden in a spot you’d only notice once you’ve already consumed most of the product. A warning like this should be displayed clearly on the front of the package, or at least directly under the ingredients list, where consumers can actually see it before purchasing or consuming it.
