Worked perfect for my DIY pulley system
Lat pulldowns are now unlocked! This cable worked fine for me. I just kind of picked one because this is my first DIY cable setup, but the cable is nicely made, and glides very smoothly and sliently on my aluminum pulleys. I got the 38ft length and had lots of cable to work with, I used maybe 9 or 10 feet.I upgraded the cable ends with a different terminal style I also found here on amazon, which you can see in this photo. I originally reviewed those, but figured I would use the same photo for this cable review. To complete your own DIY lat-pulldown you’re gonna need a few things. One: pulleys. You can get cheap pulleys at the hardware store, but investing in some high quality aluminum pulleys will make it feel buttery smooth. Two, a loading pin if you already have some weight plates. You could also just wrap a strap around a carabiner and load up a kettlebell or a dumbell if absolutely necessary. Three: some sort of attachment to put at the other end. I recommend the Ironmaster Ultimate Row Handle, as it has two sets of handles, regular grip and neutral grip, adjustable holes along the length of the rail, a landmine hole for doing landmine row work, a cable attachment hook for a setup like this, and you can also hook up a dual D-handle kit so that you can do chest flys on a single cable setup. If you want advice on how to attach this to the ceiling of a basement like I have – I cut a 4×4 length to an exact fit between my ceiling joists, I don’t recall the length but it was like 12-15 inches. Then I secured the 4×4 with lag bolts through the joists and in to the 4×4 on either end. I then attached a pulley to the 4×4. This let’s you get just a little extra room for a full stretch and also provides a more even load distribution.

Good
Seems to be what I needed. Hopefully it’ll last longer than the Nylon ones (which have lower maximum weight capacity) cause I’m relying that it can handle heavy weights after 2 Nylon ones broke. WIll update if it fails.
