If you want a compact pack for day hikes, this is a good pack
Like buying a purse, your mileage may vary. But this small backpack is well designed and made. I wanted a day pack for dolomite hikes, that could hold water (2 pockets=2 bottles), some layers, and trekking poles. This pack checked all the boxes. Back to work via the subway? Slide your laptop into the slot for your hydration bladder, or in the inside pocket. Includes a rain cover with its own dedicated storage. A quick access pocket (no zipper, about 10″ x 10″), and a small zippered pocket on the outside top will hold keys, maps, wallet or similar items.Northface isn’t Patagonia, but this is well made, so I’m not anticipating dealing with their ‘guarantee’.It’s not huge, but that’s the point.

Perfect size backpack!
I have been looking for a bag I can take to class that isn’t too big but it still sturdy. I have been using a 30L Recon from north face, which was way too big for my needs.Bought this in hopes that it would be a better fit and it’s the perfect size. It fits my 14 inch laptop with a sleeve nicely, might fit a 16inch laptop too. All of my resources for class are digital so I don’t need a bunch of room. Awesome quality which can be expected from North Face.I will say I wish this back was a little cheaper, I had a gift card so I really only paid about 50 some dollars for it but other than the price I have no qualms with the bag.
