I used to compete semi-pro in bikini competitions. I was a member of a gym that offered Rogue weights. I was hit head on by a drunk driver & lost the ability to raise my right arm, move my neck well, & my upper back incurred damage so much that I could no longer lift or compete.For nearly 5 years, my right arm couldn’t lift an empty cup of coffee. I had an in depth MRI done to my shoulders & it was determined that I could use my shoulders “as they’d allow” but not to be too optimistic. After years of PT, massage, chiropractic, & simply rest, nothing seemed to work. So I took off an entire year & did light stretching as my body would allow. Slowly, I started lifting weights again using the 5lb Cap dumbells.I started with curls because those kept my my shoulders stable & I could still build strength. I started with 6 reps x 3 sets. I increased every week up to 8 reps, 10, 12, then 15. At 15 reps x 3 sets, I increased the Cap weights from 5 up to 10lbs then reduced my reps back down to 6 x 3. I increased the reps up to 8, 10, 12, then 15 & increased the Cap weights again up to 15 lbs. Over the course of 3 years, I’ve rehabbed myself & currently use Cap dumbbells in both 15 & 25lbs for various movements. I can move my arms, neck, & back with little pain.Cap dumbbells are a perfect swap for Rogue & for the price, I prefer them. They have stainless, textured grip which means I don’t have to wear gloves for my hands to hold the bar steady & the texture isn’t so rough that I have to wear gloves to protect them. The lower weights have a slimmer bar whereas the 15lb+ weights have a thicker bar. I prefer the slimmer bar as I’m a woman & have smaller hands than my husband, who said he doesn’t mind either one & the thicker ones fit his hands well.The weighted ends are covered in rubber so there is a very slight rubber scent of the product upon initial opening. It dissipates quickly. The dumbbells are incredibly easy to use. Just hold the bar in your hand & raise it to your preference. I can no longer raise them above my head as if to complete an overhead press but I can do a chest press (laying down either flat or at a slight angle) & press the weights upward from my chest. Remember that I couldn’t hardly lift 5lbs. Now I’m pressing 25lbs.I really like the stainless bar as they rust, peel, or crack like like some coated products do & they’re easy to clean. The optional various weights are nice to have for different moves.For the weights I have, I also bought the Cap A-frame dumbbell rack which holds 5 sets of weights. Had I known I’d respond well to my own training & would eventually buy more weights, I’d have opted for their 3-tier rack which holds about 1000lbs & 10 sets, which is nearly all the weight options.Overall, I’m very happy with the quality of the bar & rack, the coated weight, & their products as a whole. I think this is a pretty solid brand.

Great dumbbells and the best deal for pairs!
I just recently started my fitness journey and purchased my first dumbell set but it only came with 5lb, 10lb and 15lb pairs, so I quickly needed heavier ones but the price for heavier pairs of that brand were double the cost of these CAP Barbell Coated Dumbbells so I decided to try this brand out and I am very happy with them. They look very similar to my others and the price is the best deal I could find for a quality pair.I purchased the 20lb and 25lb pairs and they were delivered very quickly and in perfect condition. Each dumbell was a separate package but all 4 were delivered at the same time. They are packaged very well, each box comes inside of another box to protect it during shipping. The dumbells were covered in plastic and had protective foam pieces to help hold them in place.The grip bars are great and comfortable to hold and hang on to. The 20lb dumbbells look a little rough on quality where the weights attach to the grip bar however it doesnt effect the quality of use and otherwise, the overall appearance is fine so not a huge deal. (The 25lb dumbbells have much cleaner quality in those areas).They do have a very strong smell (stronger than my other set) however, it was expected and will fade over time. Thankfully mine do not have any oily residue on them, as some others have mentioned in their reviews, so there was no cleaning required!I recommend these dumbbells if you’re looking for a deal on a pair. For the most part, they are very similar and comparable to my others so it’s a great fit, I will definitely be purchasing some more heavier sets in the near future.

2 sets of dumbbells replaced 14 sets for me
So far very nice set of Dumbbells. I easily tote 8-16lbs of 1-2 gallon plastic water jugs in order to bump the total weight from 55lbs to 63lbs and 71lbs per side safe and effectively. This allows me to do arms curls, shoulder presses, rows, pec flies and even squats with moderately heavy resistance. Add in superband resistance and home workouts suddenly begin to take on a superior quality above expensive Gym Memberships and superfluous stacks of dumbbells and cumbersome space sucking weight plates.30lb dumbbells can be toted to 38 to 46lbs. 55lb dumbbels can be noted to 63 and 71lb dumbbells. I can also safely tote 30lb dumbbells in addition to 55lb DB’s to equal 85lbs per side. None of this is recommended.I layered 6-8 plastic shopping bags adding duct tape at critical points in order to come up with this simple added tote weight addition replacing at least 7 incremental dumbbell weight set for just two sets. Thats 4 instead total DB’s rather than 14, saving me thousands of dollars.I am not recommending this method, experiment at your own risk. Never train overhead with this method or without proper foot wear and protection. This is just to chronical my own personal solution to the limitations in available & affordable fitness solutions.

CAP became my go to for gym items. If they don’t offer what I want, I’ll go to another place. I simply appreciate the fact that they package their products really well, which shows attention to details and respect to us as customer. The dumbbells boots arrived both foam and bubble wrapped. The box in which it came was also heavy duty or thick.

I got the 25lb (50lbs total) dumbbells and they look and feel as expected. I got these in 2023 and they haven’t been used every single day, but they’re good quality for me.

These things stink
Brand new out the box, you should probably leave these outside for a week cuz they need to off gas for a while as they emit a smell.The black knurling is not as aggressive at all, you hardly feel it at all, it’s more of a minor texture which I don’t like I wish the knurling was more raised. But it’s fine.Over all I like them no assembly required. The black color is very cool and the black ones are cheaper BTW.I’d probably buy again.

This is my 3rd set of CAP dumbbells. I now have 8, 10 and 12 pounds pair. Third purchase, still extremely pleased with the product. High quality and the rubber grip really helps when I have other dumbbells that will rust over time. These wouldn’t and look as good as new even after months of use!

I picked up this set of dumbbells recently, and for the most part, they’re exactly what I needed—well-balanced, comfortable to grip, and great for a variety of exercises. The weight is accurate, and they feel sturdy during workouts.However, they came with a pretty strong and oily smell right out of the box. I’m hoping it fades over time, but it was definitely noticeable at first.Aside from the smell, they work great and seem like they’ll last. If you’re sensitive to odors or planning to use them in a tight indoor area, just be aware—but overall, I’d still recommend them.
