Great lightweight collapsible trekking poles with excellent stability
When I was young, I’ve never used poles for hiking. But as getting older, I started using my 1st trekking poles two years ago. They were collapsible by folding and fit into my backpacks. I used them for a full day hiking of 8,753 ft Guadalupe peak in November 2023. I mainly used when descending. One of poles was sometimes a little unstable but they were OK.In September 2024, I climbed Mt Fuji, 12,388 ft, spending two days. When I checked the poles at home, they were fine. But when I arrived at the trailhead, I found a cable inside of a pole was detached and I was not able to fix it. At the summit, I found unused 2nd pole had same problem that was inner cable was detached, too. Fortunately, my friend let me use his. I’m 154 lb and 5’11” but the poles last only one day hiking in Texas and I was not able to use them when I really needed them. After I retuned home, I checked the reviews of folding poles of other brands. It seems folding poles have same inner cable disconnecting problems as mine.A month ago, I bought a pair of Foxelli collapsible trekking poles. This time, I chose telescopic collapsible poles. As soon as assembling to one pole after receiving them, I immediately felt much better stability compared to the folding ones. Two weeks ago, I used this for moderate 4 miles hike with 910-ft elevation gain at Shenandoah and they were much more stable than the folding poles I had. Locking mechanisms are same. The difference between old one and this is aluminum or carbon fiber. The light weight of carbon fiber is advantage. But I think the real advantage is telescopic not folding for collapsing. Compared to folding, telescopic poles have less part to break. When the telescopic poles are collapsed, they are longer than folding ones but they still fit into my suitcase for traveling. I don’t know about folding poles of Foxelli brand but I definitely recommend this telescopic poles. The stability I felt was awesome. I really love this lightweight telescopic collapsible trekking poles very much.

Stiff and light makes for a good hiking experience.
I decided to take a chance on these lower priced carbon fiber poles after trying out much more expensive ones from boutique manufacturers. I didn’t think it was important that poles were light until I tried them out and decided I liked them a lot. These come with two types of spare tips for the poles and two types of baskets. I noticed that the pole tips include a washer to spread out the force so the pole doesn’t punch through the rubber tips so quickly like it doesn’t cheaper models. That kind of attention to detail shows that these are quality units.

Great Poles That Make Hiking Feel Easier
These Foxelli carbon fiber trekking poles are solid—lightweight, sturdy, and easy to collapse for packing. The cork grips feel comfortable and help keep my hands dry even on long hikes. They really do make a difference on rough trails, giving me better balance and less fatigue. Overall, a great upgrade for anyone serious about hiking.

    Good, but not quite perfect
I’ve hiked with a single stick for a long time now, but after finding myself crossing the narrow (and high!) eyebrow section of the Lincoln National Forest’s Dog Canyon National Recreation Trail last spring (though at 11 miles round trip and climbing over 3100 ft I’m not sure where the ‘recreation’ is!) followed by taking one heck of a fall when climbing down a snot-slick chute into Illinois’ Little Grand Canyon (Shawnee National Forest) the following summer, I began to think now that I’m nearly 65 this might be a good time to switch to two sticks.I checked out the offerings in the usual sporting-goods and outdoors stores, but wasn’t convinced that I really needed the spring-loaded shock-absorbing sticks that seemed to be the main offerings, and I especially didn’t need the bright neon colors they came in as I prefer my outdoors activities to be a little less flashy. That’s when I came across these Foxelli Trekking Poles at Amazon.Used to the aluminum shaft of the Brunton hiking stick I have used for the past couple decades, the black carbon-fiber shafts of the Foxelli’s have noticeably more twang, lateral vibration, when they hit the ground (I guess that’s the shock absorption the description talks about) but I don’t get the sense that the Foxelli’s are any less sturdy than my old Brunton. One of the Foxelli’s weighs less than the Brunton, but the two Foxelli’s together weigh slightly more. Of course we’re talking twice as much stick so that’s to be expected.I suppose that if I was tossing the sticks into a car when on the way to the trail-head the carry-bag that comes with them would be handy, but since my sticks have a permanent hanging space next to my backpack just inside the rear doors of my camper-van I don’t use it, though I did check to make sure all the various tips and accessories fit into the little pouch on the side of the bag. As long as you put the large snow-baskets in first, the sand/mud-baskets and asphalt/rock tips will also fit, but only just.As for the usefulness of those accessories, I’m probably not the right guy to speak about that since I’ve been perfectly happy putting a few thousand miles on just the crutch-tip I have on my old stick. I do find the carbide tip of the Foxelli’s a little noisy and harsh for my taste so I’ve been hiking with the so-called storage-tips on the sticks and have been happy, though I do only have a little less than 200 miles on them so far.I do use the storage-clip that comes with the sticks quite a bit though. When the situation calls for a single stick, such as easy sections of trail or when I have my camera in one hand, I collapse the middle section of the extra stick, clip it to the ‘active’ stick with the storage clip and stabilize it there by wrapping a few inches of double-sided hook-and-loop tape around the grip of the extra stick and foam sleeve of the active stick. The extra stick then rides along nicely on the active stick, out of the way but handy.Speaking of foam-sleeve, that extra bit below the cork grips that’s supposed to be handy for switch-backs and other abrupt changes in terrain? – So far I haven’t used it and if that remains true for the next year or so I’m going to be tempted to cut it away to reduce the already light weight of the sticks even more.As for the contoured cork grips, being used to the round foam grips of my old stick, these took some getting used to. The contours mean that there is only one comfortable spot to hang onto the grip so it’s a dang good thing the wrist-straps are adjustable! (I like to let the weight of my push-stroke ride on the strap so I don’t have to hang onto the grip so tightly) Foxelli claims the cork grip is supposed to be cooler as well as form to your hand but so far I haven’t found either to be noticeable. What is noticeable is the rougher texture of the cork compared to the featureless, grab-it-anywhere, round foam grip of my old stick, especially towards the end of longer hikes. My three-section old stick was a twist-to-lock, but that seems to have gone out of favor. I was a little leery of the bulkier looking cam-locks and they do seem to hang up more than the sleeker twist-locks when bushwacking through thick stuff. Fortunately the cam-locks on the Foxelli’s are adjustable by turning the small black knob opposite the locking lever. With a little messing around I was able to get each lock adjusted to the point where it would hold most of my weight without slipping, yet not tear my thumb to shreds when unlocking them. Note that the lower section of the pole is tapered near the bottom so make sure you are not doing your adjusting down there on the lower part of the shaft. If I had the money and resources I would commission a custom set of trekking poles with smooth foam grips and twist-locks, but I don’t, and until I do I’m pretty happy with these Foxelli’s.

Light weight perfect for all users, especially “mature” ones!
2 pairs purchased for use by 2 – 78 year old Kiwis, primarily for walking in in Sri Lanka. Beautifully light and fold down nicely when not in use. High standard of finish. Also, great service by vendor. Very happy with the purchase.

These are great poles, but lost the rubber foot on one of them the first time I used it which was a pain so I had to buy some more. Otherwise great poles so far

This review is for the Foxelli Carbon Fiber Walking/Trekking Poles. These are fantastic quality at a very reasonably price. Being carbon fibre they are very light weight and are easily adjustable with markings on the side and flip locks to lock the sections. The grip is made of cork with a foam rubber lower grip, the straps are very comfortable and are clevery adjusted without the use of a buckle. They came with snow baskets, mud baskets, road feet, normal feet/tip covers, carry bag and a belly/bum bag. I have never had trekking poles before so took them out to some flat ground nearby and I got on with them very quickly. They will help my walking on Dartmoor and will increase my stability going up and down rough ground and crossing streams etc. They are extremely good value and I can’t wait to get on the moors with them.
