Works great
I took the time to read the instructions and set it up. I was able to code it and test it, everything worked great. Monitor is very easy to use and navigate menus. I did have a learning curve with the lancet and trying to get enough blood to get a proper reading. If you don’t get enough blood it will still read, it’s very sensitive, however it will read very low. That being said, you still don’t need much! If it’s your first time using something like this, I would suggest watching a video on how to use the lancet and how to get the ear to produce enough for a proper reading. I didn’t see any setting suggesting for the lancet either. I used setting 2 on my cats ear. 1 wasn’t enough I couldn’t get anything from that setting.

Is Your Furrbabies Blood Too Sweet?
Very, very good product! The directions are easy to follow, even for the non-medical individual. Am very thankful the refills ( tester strips and lancets ) are available in less than 24 hours with Amazon. The whole kit comes in a neat black zip compartment, perfect for travel.

Not accurate and needed too much blood
This would only work with way more blood than it claimed to need. If there wasn’t enough blood it would show a low reading. The vet was getting readings of 350 to 450 and this monitor was showing in the 60s. I finally discovered that if I wasn’t getting enough blood on the strip it just showed a low reading instead of showing an error. I returned it.

A necessary purchase
I’m taking off a star only because of the price, at more than a dollar a strip. We wouldn’t buy these things if we didn’t have to test our feline master twice a day. The quality is good and we appreciate the convenience of them being available on Amazon, usually with quick delivery. Diabetes is an expensive ailment, between the cost of the testing device (although you only have to buy that once), the lancets, these testing strips (most expensive thing you need), the syringes, the insulin, and of course the blood tests at the vet. Just wish these were a bit more affordable

Good size complete kit
I haven’t used this meter yet but I got far as calibration. Trying to set date/time I’m having trouble and shouldn’t. I’ve used alpha trac 2 in past, so I know how to use a glucometer. The alpha is much easier but mine is now discontinued so can’t get test strips. Going to have my daughter, a nurse, help me with this. If she can’t get it set up, something’s wrong so back it will go. I read another review from back in 2020, from Desirie. I felt so bad for her as I’ve been in her place with two geriatric cats, one diabetic, one hyperthyroid. Not knowing her pets age back then, they may still be around, I just wanted to offer bit of a tip for using the lancet. I don’t use the gun with it. I just hold the lancet and poke the ear. I think the loud click scares a cat more. My boy was 17 when diagnosed. I couldn’t get blood from his ear every time in first poke. I usually could get it from the base of ear if the tip wouldn’t work. Reading her review I felt so bad for her cat, and her. I understand what she went thru! Again I guess it’s possible her cat is still around, if so I hope things are going well, if not just know you cared, did all you could for him/her.UPDATE: had help with complete set up. The meter works well. Am satisfied with this. I wanted to update review as I know companies rely on customers opinions. I have also been a direct customer of this company, have not had any problems with any other products purchased in past.

Not easy for Beginners — hard to Understand
Here’s what I don’t like as a beginner:1. Darn thing turns off WHILE I’m attempting to get blood sample. When that happens and I FINALLY get blood, imagine… either I get the blood on the strip and get an error message… or … the blood smears on something while I’m holding a wiggly cat trying to turn this damn thing back on. FRUSTRATING!! Wasting a strip. Wasting a poke. Starting all over again. I hate this!2. No clue what the cat bowl icons with and without food mean. Before eating? After eating? Morning? Night? In the middle of this stressful situation, this just needs to be clearer.3. No clue how to access the records4. Strips are BEYOND expensive!! Wish I had bought another brand5. Misreading on first try which sent both me and my vet spiraling. Vet is considering half dose of insulin on what might have been an inaccurate reading due to not enough blood on stripThis really should track with an app. Why in this day is there not a companion app?Wish I would have purchased a different brand.
