I may have to amend this review later, I don’t normally like to review something I’ve just gotten, just in case it turns out not to last, but I was very hesitant to purchase this in the first place since there were no reviews, on any of the color options, so I feel I should share my first impressions for anyone else who’s on the fence about these as well.First…it’s really pretty! I have to admit, that’s why I got this one, out of all the other choices. The colors of this one are a little darker than in the picture on my pc, but honestly, I like them even better. The material feels much like my old set, a little rough but not uncomfortably so; twill, I think they call it in the description…it’s not satin, but it’s not sandpaper either.I don’t like that I can NOT take the cover off of the of the zabuton to wash it…but on the other hand, the last zabuton/zafu set I bought had a removable and “washable” zabuton cover…that completely dissolved in the wash the third time I washed it. I still have no idea what happened since it had come out of both previous washes fine and came out of the third one literally in shreds, when everything else in the load was fine. So…I don’t know…maybe it’s just as well that I can’t wash this one.I do love how thick this zabuton is though. The zabuton of the last set turned out to be significantly thinner than it was advertised and, as pillow-like things tend to do, it only got get more compressed and thinner as time went by and it never really fluffed. I was okay with replacing it when the cover was ruined and I didn’t feel like figuring out how to make a new one (wouldn’t have been hard, I’m sure, but I am not on friendly terms with sewing machines).I didn’t really need to replace my zafu but I loved the look of this set so I figured I could choose which zafu I like sitting on better and let the other be a back up or travel zafu. I have to admit, I don’t use these to meditate or for yoga, I use them more as furniture–I spend a lot of time on the computer, like most people do these days, and I feel much MUCH better if I do long computer sessions on the floor, sitting on a zafu and zabuton with my laptop on a tall lapdesk, than if I sit at my desk in my (very comfortable) deskchair. It’s also nice for watching tv or just reading. Better ergonomics or just a change of pace from the couch or whatever, it works for me.This is the first zafu I’ve ever used that wasn’t buckwheat filled and I wasn’t sure about it (again…that pillow settling and flattening thing). I am sitting on it as I write this and it’s…interesting. I was afraid it would be too soft–I don’t even like soft mattresses–but it was very firm and as soon as I pulled it out of the box I started to understand what it meant when I’d read that kapok zafus have to be broken in. It is slightly flexible to…molding? not “fluffing” certainly, but pushing hard enough on one area will make it sort of dent…so I can see it eventually keeping its shape. At the moment it’s still very firm and feels a little like sitting on a ball…it tends to roll a bit.In the long run, it’s the zafu that I’m uncertain about…from what I’ve read you can add more buckwheat hulls to a buckwheat zafu that starts to break down, as long as it opens (like my old one does) but the kapok ones can only be “professionally refilled” which for me would probably mean just buying a new one, since I don’t know how or where one would have that done and if you have to ship it somewhere it’s probably cheaper to just buy a new one. I have no idea at this point if this will last long enough that it’s worth it…but for today, it’s a very attractive set, I love the zabuton, and I like the chance to see how I like the kapok zafu.

I have been meditating for several years now, just sitting on the sofa. It works just fine but I wanted to improve my posture during the exercise, so I began shopping for a meditation cushion with a gift card from colleagues at work. (How nice of them!) I was pleased to find this cushion with the mat to go with it. It arrived on time, well packaged, and ready to use. It is lovely and well made. I have only had it for a week so durability it still under review. It does improve my posture during meditation and I hope that my meditative practice will continue to improve as a result.

Oddly Dirty Upon Arrival
The cushion itself is great quality and very comfortable. I’ve meditated on it a handful of times already and I’m quite satisfied with it! My only complaint is that the base cushion was oddly dirty when I took it out of the packaging (see photos). The smell was quite unpleasant as well. I was very tempted to simply return the items, but decided to see if I could clean the cushions myself and avoid the hassle. I used Folex and a boar’s hair brush on all of the stains, and then used some sprays to help with the smell. After getting it cleaned it’s great! I’m tempted to only give it a 3-star rating because I was quite disappointed with the condition it arrived in, but the quality is certainly deserving of 5 stars, so I decided to meet myself in the middle.

This product has taken my meditation journey to the next level.
I absolutely LOVE this set!! It’s so firm, yet, soft and comfy at the same time. The pillow sits just high enough to support my meditation in all the right ways. Even the mat alone has value. I love the color and the design, and the easy storage is so thoughtful!! I think everyone should have this set.

Bellissimo set, comodo, giusta consistenza nella seduta, ottima stoffa. Pienamente soddisfatto dell’acquisto, soprattutto perché io pratico in casa non ho necessità che il prodotto tenga poco spazio.

Reçu rapidement. Après quelques séances de méditation, je confirme mon choix. Le coussin est suffisamment épais pour ne pas ressentir de douleurs. Il est très ferme et ne se déforme pas. Sa taille permet de se positionner correctement. Le tapis est assez grand et également ferme. Une sangle permet le transport facile du zafu et une longue lanière permet de maintenir le zabuton enroulé. Le tissu est très joli (rouge noir avec éléphants). Il n’y a pas de défauts visibles au niveau des coutures. Les couleurs sont celles que l’on voit sur la photo. A voir à l’usage. Set de belle qualité qui mérite cinq étoiles.
