Great meditation cusion
I chose this product after having used multiple different meditation cushions where I meditate, and found this one to be by far the most comfortable, particularly when sitting for long periods of time. The hidden zipper allows you to adjust the amount of fill, creating a customized height that is adjustable with changes in hip flexibility. While it is a good sized and not light, it can definitely be carried and transported if you move from room to room throughout a day of meditation. I wouldn’t want to take it backpacking, but then I don’t know of any meditation cushion that I would. Its size and buckwheat filling also allow for it to be comfortable in multiple seated positions, which I found vital when at an all day meditation workshop.I have now had this product for nearly three years, and use it twice daily. It holds up well to use and has not developed any problems. I still highly recommend this product and emphasize the ability to adjust the amount of fill by removing some using the hidden zipper. This is key to creating the perfect meditation cushion.

Comfortable zafu
This is the best meditation cushion that I have sat on yet. It’s comfortable, well made, and I have better posture sitting on this cushion. On other cushions, I always felt like I wasn’t centered, and never felt like my sit bones were in the right position. This cushion has a zipper under the cloth handle so you can remove some of the buckwheat filler if needed to be less firm. I took a chance on this cushion based on the other excellent reviews, and I am so glad that I did. The sturdy cloth handle blends into the shape on the side and makes it very easy to carry along to a class. The workmanship is excellent, and it looks like it will last a long time. I sat on my plum zafu immediately after it arrived and meditated. Great price. I highly recommend it, and have to my friends.

Fabulous for Beginners and Masters
I got this zafu (in black) when I started meditating. When it arrived, I placed it in a large plastic storage container and unzipped it and took out hulls until it felt just right. This keeps the hulls from going EVERYWHERE, and then you can pour them from the container into a freezer bag (as other reviewers have said).Take your time to play around with it and get just the right feel and position for you. Once you do, it elevates your hips over your knees, aligns your spine, and allows you to sit comfortably for a stretch of time. When I started, I used it about 5 minutes a day. Even when I meditate for longer stretches, it is still comfortable!Black can be a tricky color to maintain (it can fade and attract light colored “fuzzies”), but this black has stayed clean and fuzz-free. It’s a fabulous product and a great price to boot!

Sturdy and well made.
I was a bit leery about spending $40 on a cushion, but I needed one for my practice and I was tired of balling up pillows and blankets. I got my cushion earlier than expected (bonus) and it is very well made.Its woven cotton, which reminds me a bit of a canvas tote, but soft. There is a lot of buckwheat packed in there so I am sure I will need to take some out like other reviewers did and store it for when it breaks down later (just freeze it). There isn’t an inner pocket storing the buckwheat, when you unzip it under the handle – BAM there it is so look out.It will collect a bit of dust and dog hair because of the material, if you don’t have a wildly shedding dog this shouldn’t be an issue though.This is very comfy to sit on. and makes you feel stable as well, It reminds me a bit of a stiff bean bag chair, but much smaller, better made, easier to get off from, and heavier. If you still need some support for your lower back, just prop it next to a wall, you will be fine.If you are looking for a good cushion for your yoga practice and for meditation, you cannot go wrong with this. I would spend the money again.

Excellent Zafu Meditation Pillow
Purchased the Hugger Mugger Zafu from Amazon. Received it securely packaged in an acceptable amount of time. The Zafu is very well made and I find the plum color to be nicer than I thought it would be. I used it for the first time last night in my meditation practice and found it to be very comfortable and I was able to sit for a lot longer than usual w/o having to move or adjust my position. Another plus is that the zipper that gives you access to the buckwheat hulls is behind the carrying strap. That keeps it hidden and also protected. Well thought out design. Very nice and highly recommended.

Quality and comfort. With a versitile built-in handle to boot.
I prefer the husk filled cushions over the kapok or cotton. It’s firm but allows the bones to purchase on something stable and not slide around.The quality is excellent. The carrying handle is brilliant–as carrying it into retreat, this cushion is not lightweight 🙂 It’s got three years use now and looks brand new. Moreover, it has not settled or sagged. It still sits tall, resisting anicca better than the cotton filled ones.
