Best smaller tape measure I ever had. Great overall design. Great readability, solid case structure, love the 2 sided measurement. Love the 16 inch red markings Who was the genius that came up with the manual index finger stop ? That’s the best feature in my opinion. This is priced a little more than the Stanley 12 footer but worth every penny. Great job Dewalt.

If you’re debating between 2 tapes the way I did, buy this one!
I’ve been using the same Stanley Fat Max 16′ tape for about 15 years. It’s seen a lot of rough road, the tape has creased and cracked, so it was time to replace it. I spent about 30 minutes looking at 3 or 4 different tapes, and decided on this one. Some people say it’s not ‘compact’, but it’s really close to the same size as my Fat Max 16′ tape, and this one is 25′, so I would say they get to keep the compact label.It feels heavy and tough, it doesn’t feel cheap, and I’m pretty confident that it will take a beating. The extra markings down to the 1/8″ is nice, it’s on one side of the tape. The anchor plate seems like it will grab the ends of things fairly well, and the blade doesn’t feel any thinner than my Fat Max. I’m pretty please with the decision to go with this one, if it turns out to be flimsy in any way, I’ll update my review, but you’ll be glad you gambled on this one if you’ve never owned one of DeWalt’s tapes.
