Safety, Style and Illumination at a reasonable price.
I wanted a MIPS helmet that was stylish and well illuminated for my wife. She commutes around on her electric scooter and this is a great helmet. I believe it is worth the price given how it has combined safety and style.

The most effective bicycle helmet made
This is my 3rd Lumos helmet. I bought their first version on Kickstarter. They’ve really improved the shape, ease of adjustable fit and it’s more stylish.This helmet is unique. It makes bicyclists highly visible to motorists because the helmet has built-in safety lights that flash on the front and the back of the helmet. It is adjustable to fit well. No batteries/yes C-USB port.FYI, MIPS is the gold standard for safe effective bicycle helmets.This isn’t a cheap helmet. It’s a helmet that will keep bicyclists visible and can minimize serious head injuries in an urban environment.

Lightweight
My only other Lumos helmet is the Matrix. That was so nice and fancy. The new Lumos Nyxel is nice and lightweight. It’s not as fancy as the matrix but is not as heavy as the matrix. That means I’ll end up wearing this more often and that is what really matters. The led lights are also nice and bright. Can customize with the lumos app and best of all, the helmet is rechargeable via usb-c. They did a really nice job here. Would highly recommend.

Very happy with my purchase. Good visibility all around, tested the battery, left it on for 7 hours, still blinking. Build quality is top notch. It’s worth every penny.

Awesome features, bluetooth issue
This is the coolest helmet. Turn signals via a remote on the handlebars. Brake signals via accelerometer. It has an app that saves emergency contacts and texts them your location when the helmet detects a crash. It also calls emergency responders for you like OnStar. That’s huge in places where there’s not a lot of people and it’s typically hours between contact, if you’re even visible from the road. It’s worth it just for that, like if you have someone who takes dangerous rides, this is peace of mind. I haven’t tested that feature, but it does ride tracking like other GPS apps and I assume they use satellites to read the helmet itself. I had trouble getting it to connect to my phones bluetooth, and I think it’s because I have a slightly different model than is pictured. Mips instead of the other one. I checked the papers, it sends me online, and I didn’t find an answer to that, whether I did something wrong or it just wasn’t on the app yet when I registered.The helmet quality is very good. It’s made with that grey styrofoam, a sleek shell, Euro-style straps and buckles. This is perfect for e-scooters. It’s a level-up with the indicator lights built into PPE. Battery life is sufficient for a weekend plus. Charges for several hours, runs for a lot of hours. Fit and comfort is top tier for a bike helmet. Built like a skate helmet from the outside. I’d love to give it top marks but the bluetooth connectivity issue I had was not easily resolved

Perfect Smart Helmet
The Lumos Nyxel is the smart helmet I always wanted – it has integrated lights, charging, app integration with the attendant customization you’d expect, but it does it all so well! Considering the range of similar helmets on the market, for the combination of features, performance and safety, the Nyxel is a fantastic value. The full kit includes the helmet itself, a charge cable (I’ve found battery life to be great), a turn signal controller that attaches to your handlebars, and a manual. It’s all very compact, cleanly designed and functional.Right out of the box, the helmet looks and feels fantastic – clean lines and minimal branding integrated into the straps. Speaking of which, they are highly adjustable and make it easy to literally dial in your fit with the adjustment dial in back. The helmet is remarkably light (some of the competitors I’ve tried feel more like motorcycle helmets by comparison), and I find it very comfortable on my head (though this is about as personal as it gets, so it’s always worth actually trying one on if you can before buying). This helmet is also designed using MIPS, so you’re getting the gold standard for impact protection in the unfortunate event that should become relevant for you.The integrated lights blend seamlessly into the helmet, and throw an impressive amount of light, day or night. Basic controls are simple – a quick push of the on/off switch under the rear light wakes them up with a little chirp, and short presses cycle through three presets, one solid and two flashing patterns. Fire up the app, and you’ve suddenly got a lot of options for colors, patterns, power levels – all easy to use and customize. There are also a lot of options to sync with other Lumos devices, whether the lights on your own bike or with other nearby helmets, though at this point I’m in an ecosystem of one, so I can’t speak to their efficacy. I also like that the app allows you to control the turn signal functionality, so you don’t need the included remote if you’ve got a phone mount on your bike. What the remote does unlock is a motion sensor that triggers an automatic brake light, so it’s worth installing it.
